Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 11 December 2025 and 9 January 2026. Combe Lea Resource Centre is a care home providing personal care to 26 people at the time of the assessment. The service can support up to 30 people who are over and under 65 years, people with a diagnosis of dementia and people with physical disabilities.

This assessment was carried out to follow up on an action we told the provider to take at the last inspection. The service was in breach of 3 legal regulations relating to: safe care and treatment concerning fire risk management and medicines, the need for consent and governance.

The provider had made improvements, and the service was no longer in breach of the legal regulations.

There were now clear governance systems for managing safeguarding incidents. Fire safety was now being managed effectively.

Medicines management systems had improved. There were systems to ensure people were administered their medicines safely.

Mental Capacity Assessments had improved and were carried out in line with legislation. However, the service had identified improvement work to be completed in this area around consistency in documentation and had an action plan for this.

Care was planned and delivered to safely meet people’s needs.

People were supported to take their medicines by staff who had the correct skills to support them. There were enough staff who were recruited safely and had received appropriate training to meet people’s needs.

Staff worked in partnership with healthcare professionals who spoke positively about the service.
