Our view of the service

Beverley House is a long-term 24 bedded high dependency rehabilitation and recovery unit for females with complex mental health needs. It is registered to provide care and treatment for people detained under the Mental Health Act (1983). Beverley House operates under The Priory Group name following a merger with Partnerships in Care in 2016. We carried out our on-site assessment on 31 July and 1 August 2024. Off-site activity took place in August to September 2024. We looked at 5 key questions: safe, effective, caring, responsive, well-led and all quality statements including evidence categories. We found environmental safety risks and addressed concerns following a ligature incident at the service. The registered manager took appropriate action immediately to mitigate the risks and ensure the safety of service users and staff. There were no breaches identified.   People who use the service told us they felt happy, safe, supported and were treated with dignity and respect at the hospital. People felt staff were visible on the unit and managed risks effectively. People said staff were helpful and approachable and provided person-centred care, ensuring their needs were met in a holistic way. One patient said, “the admission process was good” and staff allocated patients to show new patients around who were friendly and genuine. People felt listened to and were encouraged to provide feedback on their experience of care within the service. One relative said, ‘Staff have always been very caring, professional, hospitable and they are doing an excellent job.” Another patient said, “Staff go above and beyond, really care, give the right diagnosis, medicine and support plan to help with re-stabilising back into the community. This place has saved my life.”
