We assessed Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust maternity service from the 22 to 24 July 2025. We also held off-site focus groups with women and the Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership Chair on the 6,14 and 20 August 2025. The off-site interviews contributed to additional feedback from service users.
We assessed 1 assessment service group at this location to review the progress following the previous CQC assessments which took place in 2016 and 2022. The service had made improvements, however, had not met fully the previous breaches identified by the 2022 CQC report which reported on the safe and well-led quality statements. At the 2016 inspection the effective domain was rated requires improvement; at this inspection the effective domain has been rated good. At this assessment, all 34 quality statements were assessed for the maternity service group.
We visited the following areas as part of the assessment: Pannal Ward, Delivery suite including the Obstetric theatre, Maternity outpatients, Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit and the Maternity assessment centre. We also met with Community midwives.
