Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

During a routine inspection

We carried out this inspection to check on the care and welfare of people using this service. Our inspection was discussed and arranged two days in advance. This was to ensure that we had time to see and speak with the staff and dentists working at the practice.

We spoke with five people who attended the dental practice on the day of our inspection about their experiences of the service provided. With their permission we observed one of these people when they received treatment from the dentist. This enabled us to hear what information the person was given about their dental health or any proposed treatment.

People we spoke with told us they had positive experiences at the dentist. One person said, 'I've been coming to this practice for a while now. I am very happy with the treatment I get'.

People told us they thought the premises were always clean and commented that the dentist always wore gloves and a protective mask when treating them. We observed that robust infection control procedures were in place.

We observed when members of staff interacted with people. We noted they did so in a courteous, polite and efficient manner. We saw that staff had training which enabled them to provide people with appropriate care and treatment.

The provider had systems in place to gain feedback from people using the service and carried out regular checks to assess and monitor the quality of service provided.
